One of the most important things that I have been a part of this year is Lucy Calkins reading curriculum. Her curriculum has allowed us to teach in a completely authentic way through read alouds and/or book clubs. In doing this we realized that her suggestions for book clubs are great; however, every 4th grade classroom/student is different. What one group likes may not be at all what another group is interested in or even on a reading level they can understand.
Realizing this, my colleague and I knew that we wanted an outlet to share with other teachers several books in specific genres that can be used in book clubs ranging from 3rd-6th grade and on levels above and below those grades.
I can not wait to share titles with you that have impacted me personally, or others that I have discussed with across the US.
